Name and how long you have been in the industry

Norma Robles. I’ve been working in the industry for over 20 years

Short background, Anything that drew you in?

I got into the industry through a family connection. My husband’s cousin worked for Sonora Medical and was looking for an assistant, which provided me with the opportunity to enter the field

I was working in the insurance field and felt it was time for a change.

What roadblocks did you have to overcome?

Learning the industry was challenging at first, but through hard work and the guidance of many great mentors along the way, I was able to overcome those obstacles.

What do you feel makes a great leader in this industry?

A good leader needs to be able to clearly explain their vision, provide guidance, have patience and listen.

What advice to you have for the other women in HTM? 

Be a sponge—absorb as much knowledge as you can and seek out the many people willing to teach you. Embrace your confidence and believe in yourself. Additionally, maintain positive and healthy relationships with your co-workers.
