Name and Experience in the Industry:
I’m April Lebo, and I’ve been part of this amazing industry for over 13 years!
What is your biggest accomplishment and/or proudest moment of your career?
Over the years, my career has been filled with numerous milestones and highlights—whether it’s building meaningful relationships, exploring new product lines and business opportunities, or growing professionally within my company. However, what stands out the most is being a part of developing WIL (Women in Leadership) and witnessing the incredible support from the HTM community for this initiative. It’s been inspiring to see WIL spotlight and empower a dynamic and evolving demographic in our field. Personally, it’s pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me grow in ways I never imagined, both professionally and personally.
What does this TechNation Award nomination mean to you?
This nomination is deeply meaningful for several reasons. First, it reflects the growing recognition of women in HTM, with an award category dedicated specifically to us—a milestone that wasn’t even on the radar just a few years ago. It also highlights the impactful leadership roles women are embracing, alongside some of the industry’s most respected leaders. Seeing my name alongside women I admire and aspire to emulate feels like a victory in itself.
What can we do as Women in HTM to help inspire others in the industry?
To inspire others, we must continue to advocate for and amplify our voices within the industry. By encouraging and recruiting more women into HTM, we can demonstrate that this field offers fulfilling and successful career opportunities. Building a supportive network that fosters encouragement, and inspiration will not only strengthen us but also pave the way for future generations. It’s essential to extend a helping hand, offer unwavering support, and be a source of motivation to everyone we encounter.
